Hello, my name is Emile, and I am a Whoser. At first, WLiiA
was more of a passing interest. My family has a satellite dish, and
at the time (around 1991), I stumbled over WLiiA on Comedy Central,
and thought it was interesting, but because I was so young, I didn't
really understand it very much.
Flash forward a couple of years, and I stumbled over WLiiA again. Being
just a bit older, I began to understand and really enjoy the humour
of the show. So much so that I began taping it religiously. But by then
it was too late, the addiction had begun and would grow unabated!
Flash forward even further, to the fall of 1997. One day I decided
to try searching the web for pages about WLiiA, and lo and behold, among
the pages, was our own Mark's page. And that page in turn led to me
finding about this messageboard. At the time, I was more of a lurker,
me being the shy, introverted type (yeah right!), hesitated from posting.
By wintertime, I decided to broaden my horizons by trying IRC for the
first time. Again, through mark's site, I found the #wliia channel at
EFnet, where I first met Nat Michelle and the other original IRC chatters.
Then I thought, I would bite the bullet and create my own little home
on the web, a little place where I could pay tribute to the show, and
of course the Whosers (because sometimes we were even funnier than the
actual WLiIA players!). And it's a site i'll always be proud of. Over
the next year, I have been swept up in a great whirlwind of happy experiences.
First, meeting so many great and wonderful people who are so on the
same wavelength (and sharing a warped sense of humour! I am forever
indebted to my Corrupters of the Gaelic Fury persuasion!) I never would
have thought it possible to ever go to a taping of WLiiA, or to be part
of a WLiiA convention, but I did.
