Where are they now?
Things change, and yet they remain the same; people's lives go on to
various things, they move, they start off in new directions. Yet they
can still be friends!
For those who have been looking for a certain old friend, and aren't
sure what happened to them, or what they've been up to ... no need to
look any further. Just read below to find out ... where they are now
;)
(And want to update us on where you've been?? Email
us!)
NEW! From
Natalie Elizabeth:
I'm not quite sure anyone will really remember me,
but I used to be a regular on the now defunct US Department of Monkeys
and an occasional visitor to many other sites. I just decided to take
a look at all of the WliiA? stuff and I was surprised (yet not surprised)
at how much it has changed. Slightly disappointed that some of my friends,
such as Mel, Kendra and crew (you know who you are) seem to be all lost
to the wind and I have no way of contacting them. So if you see this
please email me at queen_ne@hotmail.com.
As for me, I'm in my third year at university, majoring in cognitive
psych. Oh the places I'll go. I'm still swimming like mad, hoping to
go hard to nationals this year as it is my life. I am gloriously single!
I also plan to move to the UK (or whatever Grad school takes me) and
work on my masters within in the next two years.
PS. Claudia... a liberal?? Shame on you. You know the best part about
being Canadian is really having absolutely no opinion on anything political!
~Natalie Elizabeth
From Ashley:
Though living in Los Angeles was quite an incredible
adventure, once I met the man I knew I would spend the rest of my life
with, I decided that somewhere a bit more ...SAFE..would be best to
raise our future children. So, I dragged Chris (20, now RadioShack manager,
and absolutely wonderful) to Tampa, Florida where my parents were living.
My folks Adore Chris, with a capital "A" - he is the son they
never had! We quickly adopted two kittens from the local shelter and
named them Taz and Trixie and they are the center of our universe. I'm
scared to think how much I'll love my kids if I love my cats so much!
Anyway, Chris proposed on January 2, 2002 at The Macaroni Grill with
my best friend (Nessa/Van) and his two best friends present. He had
one of his friends videotaping the moment. It was perfect and the ring
was so beautiful - his sister, a jeweler, had made it! Needless to say,
I said YES! We're getting married in Los Angeles at the hotel where
we first met (we were both working there) on April 3, 2003, so my life
is filled with wedding planning! There's things going on in my world,
but nothing of real importance or interest. Ah, sweet simplicity!:)
Anyone who would like to get in touch with me can e-mail me at: SassyAsha@aol.com.
I still have my old Improv Website up at: http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Land/8017/.
You can view my artwork here: http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/s/a/sarahashley/sarahashley.html
and my "wedding bio" here: http://www.theknot.com/co_profileview.htm?profilename=ThursdayBride.
And that's about it!:)
From Claudia:
Hey everyone! It's been a long while since I've had
any contact with the Whoser World! Unfortunately, there have been no
major changes in my life since the last I've spoken to any of you. In
less than a month, I'll be 17... and in less than 4 days, I'll be a
senior in High School (ay-yi-yi). So, in between juggling homework,
and cramming for exams, I'll also be searching for a job that doesn't
involve me being elbow-deep in lard (hellllooo, McDonald's). In the
meantime, I've sold my soul to the Liberal party of Canada ( I know,
I know). Anyway, I just wanted to say 'hi' to you all... hope you're
all doing great :)
From
Cindy:
Well, first off - I am now working for the infamous
"Islet Cell Transplant Program" at the Unversity of Alberta
Hospital and I love it...I get to deal with people from all over the
world and it's a wonderful working enviroment.
Also, I am now into "acting" in a major way! I actually just
signed (yes, offically signed) with a talent agent who deals with agencies
all over the world...kind of exciting. Now I am not saying that I will
become famous cause of her...but it's a start. I am going to be getting
head shots done in the next few weeks at which time I will be able to
send you some recent pictures of me. I tell ya...I sure miss those whose
line days...ahhh the memories...the fun....the late nights....the stories...the
friendships built from it. Whose line not only created an amazing show
but also created new friendships that will last a life time. I look
forward to reading everyones e-mails and "where are they nows"....I
know that there will be a time in the future where we will be at that
big lineup for whose line...standing for hours...making up hoe-downs
and playing whose line games. Everyone I meet through WLiiA? is very
special to me and I miss them all. Definitely keep in touch!

Dean is still in New Zealand, still feeling old,
still doesn't have a pic that does his classical good looks full justice,
and still spending too much time on his improv obsession. Anyone wanting
to get in touch is free to email him at dbedford@ihug.co.nz
From Emile:
Here's a brief summary of where I am now. *crickets*
That's about it. :-) Not much has really changed over the last few years.
I am still extremely single, still working for our casino, and still
loving every minute of it. I am also still very much a fan of Improv
and Whose Line, despite how it has become. Meanwhile, my musical alter-ego,
DJ Moch, well...his career hasn't exactly taken off...LOL!
Anyway, that's about it. Other than the fact that I miss you all like
anything. :-)
From Jeffy B:
I'm still teaching the Culinary Arts at George Brown
College in Toronto. In fact, one of my prior students is a Chef Assistant
on the Food TV Canada show, 'Cook Like a Chef'.
I'm still a very active Member in the Whoser Community....well, only
during the Conventions. I've been on the WLCon Committee for the last
3 years, taking care of the accomodations & entertainment.
I'm now a student of the Improv School, Theatresports Toronto, birth
place of three of 'The Kids in the Hall'.
Where
in the world is JennD....
Since we last saw JennD at the Whoser Convention 2001, she has travelled
to the beautiful countryside of England to visit her friend Van..Nessa#2!!
The experience was a memorable one, as are most experiences are when
Whosers get together :)
The show, 'Whose Line Is It Anyway', has lost its priority in her life,
but the memories of the people she met through the board and the trips
to Hamilton, Toronto and LA are still fresh in her mind.
On the home front though, life in Canada is pretty much the same as
it ever was. Still working at the same Doctor's office, still enjoying
single life, still happy as can be!!
From Jenna:
I am currently still employed (part-time) at the Pak
'n' slave supermarket, which we all love to hate. The other half of
the time that I'm not at work, is spent doing assignments for my creative
writing course, which I very much love, as it's helping me a lot in
my writing. I'm also currently (when I'm not procrastinating, that is)
writing a novel for young adults. Very exciting time for moi:) Currently
with someone, but that's one of many balls in the air. I'm flatting
with four others in slappersville a.k.a. Hamilton, New Zealand, which
is another place we all love to hate. Hopefully next year, I will spend
my days travelling mainly the US and Canadia (stopover at con 6!), gathering
many a writing idea. If my bank balance agrees. I have nothing much
else to say, I just like this hat. No, ok. I just like you guys!
Woobs and broth, Jenna
From Jessie:
Well, after some very bleah times, all in all now things are quite
great on my end. I am currently working my second year contract
at the University
of Western Ontario as a web developer (gee. who woulda thunk) &
very very happily 'living in sin' (and really, who would want to live
without sin? *G*) with my fiancé Darren. Otherwise, I'm rather sick
of computers when I'm not at work but I manage to get some puttering
done (and managed to get this place back in working order, scarily
enough)
and the rest of the time you probably won't see much of me - with every
workday spent in front of this monitor I'm more inclined to get out
when I can! :)
From Joe:
Still doing traffic reports on TV, still trying to visit
every county (1800 down, 1341 to go), still single (darnit). I was out
of my house for six months earlier this year due to mold resulting from
a water leak... all is cleaned up now and I'm back home.
From Jules:
Looking over my life, it's been a lot calmer over the
past couple of years than I thought. Who knew?
I've been working nearly two years as a secretary for Service Employees'
International Union, Local 715. 'Secretary' was admittedly never a career
goal, but I get to be as creative as I want making flyers and newsletters,
and I know my job is stable (which in this area is a BIG relief). So
I'm doing okay with it. It pays enough that I can afford half the rent
on a nice apartment, which is a major plus. (And it'd pretty cool to
see picket signs I designed on showing up on the front page of the paper.
:-) )
I'm still performing with Rocky Horror Picture Show, though sadly our
theater was forced to close, so we're looking for a home again. But
find one we shall! I've also become involved in a weekly role-playing
group, which is loosely structured as role-playing goes and is quite
similar to long-form improv. Love it!
And the only other thing I can say about my life is I remain, and will
always be, a Whoser. And I expect to see everybody at the next convention!
:-)
With big Whoser hugs, Julie Barman
known to most as Jules :-)
From KerriOTPS:
Hi everybody, Kerri Of The Perpetual Smile here.
Life has been pretty busy for us since having Betsy Bear at the end
of '99. Between that and being offline for nearly a year and a half,
there is too much to possibly tell on this website and still leave
room for everyone else. So, a recap of the highlights....
A really scummy landlord left me full of righteous indignation, and
rather than just get royally cheesed off, I decided to take action.
I'm in the middle of trying to get some legislation passed here in
Washington State that would make private property owners who rent
their own properties out as responsible as small business owners
when damage is done or when the property is misrepresented before
occupancy. For full details, e-mail me (best address for this: treesearcher@bigfoot.com)
and I'll fill you in. Identify yourself as a Whoser in the ID line
so I don't accidentally delete you with the spam that regularly fills
my box.
When I'm not out chasing my three lovely daughters (who are now almost
17, 9 and 3 1/2), I currently work with a local elderly health and
wellness organization as an administrative assistant. We're hosting
a regional conference in September and I've been tapped to be one
of several emcees for the programs, which includes a keynote speech
by Art Linkletter. It's an honor working with such a wonderful group
of people as these, who have been known to help educate our local
senior citizens with health screenings and keeps people active in
their later years.
JohnMc and I recently had our fifth wedding anniversary, and we're
still on our honeymoon. I wish all our Whoser friends weren't so
far away, because we'd sure love to see all of you! How can it be
that we've been around the Whoser community for nearly five years
now? I am AMAZED!
Thanks to all of our friends who have listened to us through the
good times and the bad; we hope to be available when you need us
too. Happiness to all of you in your lives away from the computer
screen, and all our love sent in your general directions....
From Lisa:
I was told to be witty and creative, but I use all of
that up at work, sorry :) Anyway, here's my quick life update. I'm in
my second year of teaching bilingual fourth graders. So far I'm loving
the school year! I'm also cohabitating with Sean, my incredibly amazingly
wonderful boyfriend of close to a year. No wedding plans yet, but the
Whosers will be the first to know! I've got a busy, wonderful life out
here in San Antonio. I'll pass along some new photos when I get the
chance. In the meantime, keep in touch at lspeterson@satx.rr.com!
From lisa s.:
Ok, here's my tidbits: I don't really watch WL or DL
anymore, just occassionally when I notice they're on. But I still love
the show, just not so much. In my real life, I have finished graduate
school with an MFA in writing poetry, I work full-time at the Yonkers
Public Library. And that, friends, is my exciting life. lisa s.
From Mark:
Ah, damn, you found me :)
Hmm, let's see... still working at Ericsson, luckily - lots of cutbacks
going on for the last year or so. Being a cheap graduate pays off when
they have the chopping blocks out :) I've just started on a new project
which we're taking over from the closing-down Denmark group. So I finally
got to travel on the company kroner, had a couple of great weeks in
Copenhagen at the end of July. Got a bunch of pictures, though my digital
camera corrupted half of them when I got back - I should try and put
up what survived on the website soon - http://members.optushome.com.au/longmuir/
Actually this new project's looking really good - not only is it keeping
my busy, but it's good for the frequent flyer points - I just got told
yesterday that I'm off to Sweden next weekend for a fortnight, and then
possibly to London for a few weeks or so after that (depending on a
few things, but they're trying to get us some installation work at BT).
Must get a more reliable camera...
Outside of work, not a lot happening. Still living with the parents,
starting to look into moving out. Increasing my experience of different
alcoholic drinks. Winning lots of gift vouchers from online games. That
sort of thing. All quiet on the relationships front :)
Mark.
From Matt:
Let's all laugh at Matt! He's nearly 30, he is driving
more than 200 miles a day in order to earn a crust, he has a bad haircut,
he is stuck in the 1980s and he is one of the few people who sees good
things in the WL? performances of Archie Hahn. Must be certifiable.
Or a fool. Or just ignorant. Then again, he could be a proud Brit entering
the prime of his life, with a privileged job worthy of the mileage,
a nice house, a lovely girlfriend, an individuality which does him credit
and a passion for talking up the non-populist wings of cultural trends.Yep,
let's go along with that. He is also the proud co-owner of The Definitive
Guide To 'Have I Got News For You' (http://www.hignfy.net)
and Essential Eighties (http://www.essential-eighties.net),
two websites which keep him away from excessive Guinness drinking, though
he still smokes Silk Cuts as if his life depended on it. While you're
getting your brain around the oxymoron which that last phrase has undoubtedly
inspired, he would just like to add that a) he is still a proud Whoser;
b) Archie Hahn was good at Sound Effects, you must admit; and c) he
will never be so pretentious as to write about himself in the third
person again.
From Michelle:
I spent the past five years playing mad scientist (I
was in Biomedical Sciences) and used to make webpages as a hobby to
stretch my mind in another direction. Most of them were/are related
to WL, Britcoms, and certain comedians and I fondly remember various
Whosers helping me out with them. Something happened, I chucked in the
sciences and I'm now working my way through the Bachelor of Multimedia
Studies; I figured it was about time I learnt how to do this properly
(any rumours that I'm trying to follow the career path of one J. Johnston
are a complete fallacy ;-) ). As for anything else, the more things
change the more they stay the same. I miss the Old Guard dearly but
I'm happy to hear from any of them at any time at micaelita@ozemail.com.au
Michelle (Shell/mica)
(editors note: J. Johnston does not believe any such
rumour about such career decisions. She just thinks that anyone who
does biology, then does web design/multimedia, is just too damn smart
and very cool. She makes no comment on the rumours she may be biased
in this estimation. ;) )
Hi!!!! Nessa
#2 or CA here, just saying 'hello' to all ya'll
out there! Where am I now? I'm currently living in England (Surrey to
be slightly more exact) and have been for nearly a year having done
my MA, but as of Sept. 1, I shall be moving to Germany (near Cologne)
to be working as a translator for a translation agency out there. I
have no clue how long I shall stay! As long as they don't fire me and
as long as I like it! No love or marriage on the horizon, but we'll
see what Germany brings me... So e-mail me! Vanessa15@aol.com
-Love, Nessa (or Van, as they call me here)
From Rob:
Since leaving the whoser community, I've continued to
be a fan of WL, and to a lesser extent, DL. I still go to tapings occasionally,
in fact the last time I went to a taping, my plane home landed at 8:00
pm, Monday Sept. 10th, 2001. Glad I decided not to stay the extra day,
let me tell you. In addition to being a fan of improv, I have become
an improviser myself, performing regularly on the mainstage at Theatresports
Toronto. I also have become involved in the technical side of the theatre
scene in Toronto, where I continue to live and work. For a photo and
additional info, check out http://www.theatresportstoronto.com/players/RobBartlett/.
From Shari:
I am happily married since June 2000. Am the proud mother
of Brenden Thomas, 4 1/2 months. We own a townhouse in NY and still
LOVE WLiiA? !!! Right now I am a stay a home mom, but I'm thinking of
returning to college to get a degree in teaching.
From Sue B:
I am no longer a Whoser (i.e., I no longer watch WLiiA),
but I AM still big-time into improv, as you'll see below. I:
Direct a longform troupe at ImprovBoston called TBD (www.improvboston.com/tbd)
Am in a sketch troupe called The Mumbling Prophets
Am in a three-person troupe called SOCK (w/ Sock Puppets!)
Won a scholarship to the Chicago Improv Festival this past April (wrote
a scholarship on "how improv changed
my life")
Attended the Memphis Comedy Festival (and I performed in two shows,
a short form jam and "It's Ladies
Night," plus performed in my first ever three-person show, called
"Son of SOCK" at Improv Boston)
Graduated from ImprovBoston's Training Center in February and will graduate
from Improv Asylum's training center in January
So, it's all (mostly all) improv, all the time. :)
And my current email addy is sssbbb@rcn.com
From Susan:
Aaah, how I miss Whoserdom! I rarely get into chat these days, but always
try to check out the messageboard, and watch WliiA/DliiA as often as
possible. In keeping with my plan to move 1000+ miles away every 2 years
or so, I am currently a resident of gorgeous Colorado - at least for
now. I am still single, and my lovelife maintains a certain Three Stooges/Twilight
Zone quality that fascinates friends and family alike. I continue to
spend much of my time reading, hiking, doing tai chi and yoga, and being
my politically active, tree hugger self. Emails are happily encouraged.
My addy is susan-marie@angelfire.com.
