The Fourth Seaters!! Yes, we're doing a series on them - those people
who show up on the american whose line taking that coveted final seat
- the revolving personalities that join the powerhouse that is Colin,
Ryan & Wayne on that stage! Whether it be Chip, Greg, Brad, Kathy,
Denny, etc. etc. - they all have their own impact on the show!
What we're hoping to do is get a bit of opinion from as many people
as we can on why they sit up and pay attention a little more for certain
fourth seaters than others - or just what they like about them in comparison
to the others who might take that chair. We ask for no out and out slagging/trashing
of any of them, but otherwise you can give it as you want to!
If you'd like to contribute (and we hope you will!!) send your email
with the subject heading of 'the fourth seaters' to us at webmistress@whosers.com.
Make sure to make it nice and obvious what text is about what performer,
and give us the name/nickname you'd like credited for your comments!
Hopefully this'll be a fun exercise for us all!

Well, shouldn't you be reading and replying to those
articles of ours??? First of all, the Paul Merton one. It rocks I tell
you! Then the new one about the brits ... and the ones about online
etiquette ... about how improv changes lives ... even on the history
of the whosers. We're going for a little bit of stuff for everyone -
something for every topic that relates to you whosers.
But then, of course, you are probably reading them
... so why don't you respond? I'm sure you've got an opinion on one
or two of them - something said has got to stir your interest. Let us
know by writing a letter to the editor in response - trust me, the authors
will adore you for it (and we'll thank you too!)
And if you think you might have what it takes to go
full steam ahead, forget just responding and write your own ...well,
we're still on the lookout for a few good words & a few good contributing
writers. Think you got what it takes?? Well, then contact us and we'll
see ...
We're also taking input on who we should make the next
graffiti boards for in the comments section. If you see someone you
think has been left out, give us a yell!

Well, as some of you may have noticed, we've been going
over our bandwidth limit a few times recently due to the traffic we're
getting. Wild hmm? Well, for those we've been getting concerned comments
from, etc, I would like to update you with this information. Plans have
been/are in the works to get most of the site on a paid server, where
this won't be a problem. It'll probably still be a redirect-type thing
for the domain name www.whosers.com for the most part (as in not on
it's own server - yet). But the majority of the stuff here will be on
a paid server. However, we're not giving over whoser.tripod.com or anything
- that'll remain to hold one very important part of the site - the contestant
graffiti boards. Hope this helps clear stuff up, & make you patient
to deal with the whole bandwidth issue until we get this sorted out.
WhoserAwards are finally done and over with - check
out the winners on the WhoserAward page! They'll have graphics showing
their winning luck in a few days for their own pages ...

Just fyi - this
section is slowly merging into a what's new/editorial section. This
is happening to make way for a new section that will be coming soon
that you're sure to find greatly useful!
What's new? Lots
of fun! Check out the featured photo - we're starting a whole new gallery
with not just photos you may have seen all over the net, but the stories
behind those photos!
And if you are
at all awed (or at least excited) by contributions from the improvisors
themselves, well, check out the famous greetings page and see who has
added their tongue-in-cheek comments to the rush!!

Welcome. You may
have noticed that at our 'picks' we're starting to add links to Amazon.
Why you may ask?
It's quite simple. There are two reasons. First, because the whole idea
of these reviews/picks is to point out things that might be interesting
to other whosers. And if we're pointing them out, we should really let
you know where they are, right? Right.
Second is a matter
of finances. This year's bill for the domain of this site came up last
month and it was an ouchy. This domain supports not only this site,
but quick links for the big Whoser Board, the Whose Line Links Portal,
The Whoser Convention, & The Contact List. So it has to be paid,
or all those people will end up out of their domain name stuff. This
has been paid for in the past by one person. This will continue to be
paid by one person as she doesn't have it in her to ask people for donations
even if it's ouchy.
So there shall
be no requests for donations at this time. However, if a book or a movie
or something we post interests you, and you want to get it ... consider
following the link to amazon and putting the item in your shopping cart
then. You still get the item at a fair price (and they do include new
or used copies in those links), and you help us keep running.
All in all a fair
deal, right?

August 2002
Welcome to the new-look whosers.com/the whosers page.
Hopefully you'll like the new style, and the new focus of the site.
This revamp has indeed been in the works for a year - and has been redone
a few times during that time due to other people coming out with similar
sites - but hopefully the final product will suit you all!
Now, onto this week's editorial q&a.
Q: What happened to the main links
page that was at www.whosers.com? My site was listed there!
Don't worry! The site is still there. It's now one
of our sister sites as it's grown big enough to deserve space of it's
own. The WL Link Portal is available via http://links.whosers.com. I
know right now it looks the same as it did when it was just www.whosers.com,
but it's about to get revamped too!
Q: How can I email the contestants?
I'm afraid email addresses for the contestants are
not readily available, and I'm sure you can understand why. The best
thing to do, if you wish to contact them, is to check their official
websites for contact information. Those who appear regularily on the
american whose line you may also be able to contact by writing them
c/o ABC.
Q: What's with the news-style site?
Coming up with a creative new way to address the changing
needs of the Whoser population, which now contains both those new to
the show and those who have been around for awhile, has always been
a problem of this site's. Given that our concentration has always been
on the whosers, and not the show, providing topical information seemed
to be a good way to go at it, and that's where the news idea came from.
Q: When will there be more articles and information?
Soon, miguel, very soon. We had to get the new design
up & kicking before the serious content work could be finished.
Now we go onto getting new articles up, promise!
Q: Why can't you nominate one of last year's winners
for a WhoserAward?
This rule of the contest came about last year, in order
to be fair for new sites that have shown up since there. It is only
the last year that can't compete (so if a site won two years ago, it's
fair game). This one-year ban is just to make it fair to sites that
are newer and deserve their own recognition, that's all!
That's it for this week - short but sweet. Hope you
enjoy the new site - all comments and critique are welcome as usual.
Signing off!
